Hi there

Does anyone have any idea why a laptop (Dell D420) would lag really badly when I connect it to a Dell Port replicator?

If I take the laptop out, bootup and program functions load very fast as it should. However putting it back in the replicator and booting up results in quite a frustrating lag when "applying computer settings" and programs behave erratically on load times.

I have tried another replicator with the same result. Also tried changing the power supply of the replicator and I have also deleted and re-installed the docked hardware profile to no avail. No research on the net provides any immediate info.

Its a weird problem that I would like to fix, anyone experience this as well? I know other D420's have no issues with the same replicators and hardware and this is a D420 laptop with a fresh install of the same XP image the others use.

Would appreciate some help :)

Oh ok sorry guys I figured out the problem. You can close this thread or keep it for future reference or whatever.

Its the printer believe it or not. Its an HP 7213 and has those built in memory card readers and usb storage. I just kind of stared at it for a while and suddenly had a theory in my head :) seeing as it is connected to the port replicator I wondered what would happen when I turn it off before startup. And voila !:) the laptop boots up much better.

When i startup with it on it must take a while to intialise all those slots and usb storage because even after signing on the laptop takes a minute to open control panel as opposed to a few seconds.
