Laptop LCD Flex Cable?

Hi folks,

Trying to diagnose an Asus X540L. Screen has power to LEDs, but not receiving a display signal. Seems to be booting ok from what I can hear.

I plugged the HDMI into my TV. It picks up the HDMI-CEC signal and switches the source correctly, but the resulting display is just colourful white noise with occasional flickers of black.

Is it worth changing the Flex Cable, or does it seem like something else? Laptop also has a VGA port, but i don't have a cable to test.

If it were the flex cable, you would have had a picture via the hdmi cable..

This sounds like the graphics chip.. would be a big coincidence but, perhaps it's the flex cable and graphics chip.. get a VGA cable to confirm that..
