I have an old laptop (but still reasonably decent spec - P4, 2.4GHz, 80GB HDD), but it only shippes with 512MB RAM.

I would like to upgrade the memory which is currently 2 X 256MB PC133 Modules.

The cheapest I have found for 1 512MB module is over R1000.... which is ludicrous as I would need 2 and cannot justify over 2 Grand for this.

Any ideas where I can source this cheaper? Already looked at Take2, Digital Planet, WantitAll

You are going to have a hard time in finding "cheap" modules, PC133 is quite old in tech terms.

They also just made modules up to 512Mb in size IIRC

Doubt you gonna find cheap laptop ram. My one only came with 256 and upgraded with another 512mb ( from SaNotebook ) and that set me back R999. With SaNotebook though you have to email them for a price as they first have to source the specific make of ram that comes with your specific notebook ( for warranty purposes )

Thanks for advice but

not keen on buying memory from B or B... want a reputable seller with guarantee... old memory can be dodgy. will carry on the hunt
