does anyone know if these can be replaced fairly cheaply?

I got a friend who's laptop stopped working (HP NX9010), he took it to incredible corruption and they quoted him R6500 to replace a faulty motherboard! Seeing as you can get a decent new laptop for the same price, I'm just wondering if are any other shops around that could do it a lot cheaper, or can I buy the motherboard somewhere and replace it myself?

thanks in advance :)

xcleric42, the price is about right for a mobo replacement. For the same money you can buy an entry level Acer notebook that will both outperform the HP and probably last a lot longer.

Avoid I-CSS as far as you can. They take forever and do half-arse work.

I think he's hanging on to it for now, seeing as he hasn't backed up any of the data etc. I'll ask him next time he's around, which will be when he organises a new one.

These guys are the oficial importers for HP parts.
