Laptop Music Processing

Hi everyone,
I would like to find out from those who have experience with laptops processing music.

I have a few effects that I need to trigger from the laptop through the mixer out to the speakers I have a Dell Duo chore-2 laptop

I was wondering is this possible and if so what cable do I use from the laptop to the mixer...And where can I purchase such cable?...Please help Have a super day! and Many thanks!

Standard stereo cable with 3mm jack from laptop to RCA or 6mm jack, whatever the mixer takes as input.

If you are going to use some effects, then maybe use an external firewire 24-bit sound-card.

Else you will only get standard 16-bit output, in an anlog format...
