I'm in such a mess..
I need a laptop for work.

Oh ja - I found work !!!!! Woohoo !!!!!! :D

:)

Anyway, the MD says it needs 4GB ram and a dual core CPU.
He mentioned about R8k or so (cost price I assume).

Does anyone know where I can find a notebook with the above credentials?

It would be running Adobe Flex, Designer ES, Process Manager ES, Lifecycle Forms ES etc..

Make is not important. Any help please..

:(

EDIT:

Thanks to all those who gave me very good advice and assistance while I was looking for work.

;)

Congrats on finding work!

Please check out the following options (please note extra will be installed with options showing 2GB to bring you up to 4GB and should be within your budget still)

We dispatch from JHB, CPT, and Durban (and other locations)

http://pc-direct.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=49&products_id=135
(there are reviews on the site - customer bought two of these and over the moon happy with performance - GFX output is good ) Less than R8k with extra ram & delivery.

http://pc-direct.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=69_70&products_id=194
(Little more expensive - should come out at R9k with ram)

http://pc-direct.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=1_6_23&products_id=35
(Also over R8k - 3Gb in total mem will be installed)

http://pc-direct.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=53_67&products_id=180
(For just over with the ram this is a good machine)

Just my 2c.. happy shopping around...

EDIT: First option I gave is my recommendation. :)

AMD laptops are prone to overheating. I would not touch that first link as it is AMD.

If the notebook is important for work, then you also will need good support on it. Dell* offers next business day repairs, but at a price, not sure about the PC Direct options.

*Dell also let you customize your notebook online, and provides a quote, so maybe worth a look.

I can offer you the following laptops:

HP Compaq 6510B Intel T8100 KE130EA

Price: R7,950.00 Incl

&

HP Compaq 6730S Intel T5870 KU355EA

Price: R6,390.00 Incl

These lappies are on promo.

Jeeez !!

Wow - choices, choices !

Um, personally, I hate AMD-based notebooks. The CPUs are hot.

My primary concern is warranty etc.

So ja, I think HP, Dell, Lenovo IBM may be cool.
I haven't had nice experiences with the guys that repair Acer notebooks (in the past).

The budget is the major factor here holding you back.

We can offer all of those ranges/ manufacturers you want but the prices are higher than your budget.

Just browse our site and you'll get the idea.... (our prices are low already)

Cheers.

Not a prob - I can slot in a warranty as well - will advise accordingly.

I suggest that you should go for Acer Aspire. One of the most portable, easy to use and affordable laptop I saw. I have one and it works fine for my online work.
