Laptop or PC?

Good point.

And then it also depends if you will be in RES or not. I know many res's make you move out for vac, so you won't have a choice about moving the PC around.

My opinion: wherever possible, try spend as much of the money as you can on a desktop. Notebooks are overrated, unless you need to have a notebook for everyday mobility.
Chances are i will be in res..

I am not an expert but i have basic knowledge for which is best. As per my view if you are student or businessmen then laptop is best for you because you can easily transfer it and take it with you any where. If you are traveling, it is best for time pass.

i agree on desktops still be the best way to go for getting your money worth, but if you buying a laptop and you intend to play games, then just make sure you dont by stuff like toshiba, hp, fujitusiemens, and so on, go for the gigabyte, lg, or dells, you wont be able to upgrade, that is just the downside of laptops, and their hard drives tend to fail more than desktops, i guess you can say that buying a laptop in my experiance is like buying a car, its just a running expense.

any way, alienware i have looked at before, and its not really all that, i do think that it is just over priced.

point being, if you dont really have money to waste, get a desktop, if money doesnt really matter, get yourself a laptop but make sure you have a external one with all your data backed up to.

well, if you really are that scared of viruses, then you can always just get ubuntu or fedora, both have a lot of support these days should you need drivers, they are free, and no need to worry about viruses, and more and more games are coming out, that is supported by the linux OS
