the powersupply for the the sahara laptop i use puts out 19v at 3.42 Amps
anyway its dead and i got the other one puting 20V at 6 Amps..
can i use the second one or will that kill my laptop?

I would suggest getting a supply with the same 19v output, otherwise it will put strain on your components, even with 1v difference.

Most laptop power supplies are rated 19v at 3.5 to 5 amps (65w to 90w), so as long as the connector fits your laptop DC-in jack, you should be able to get any power supply - also try ebay and bidorbuy for replacements - I bought a universal laptop ac adapter from the UK on ebay and it helps me out when the original fails....

Which area are you in?

I am more concerned about the 6amps.

I always thought the amps rating was the max output amperage that could be drawn - in other words, rated up to 6 amps, and failure thereafter...

The device will only draw what is required, and as long as the adapter can handle that draw, it should be fine.

I'm more worried about the voltage...
