laptop screen repair

Hi All

Apparently the backlight on my moms laptop has gone. She was quoted about R3k to fix.

Sounds a bit too much to me. Any comments welcome, its a Toshiba t300

Anyone recommend a repair company - Durbs or CapeTown

Can I do it myself? if so where do I get a replacement backlight.

Got a similar problem with an Acer, was quoted R3.5k, decided not worth it.

Where did she take it for a quote? Mustek are the agents in Cape Town, perhaps try them, but I'm sure it won't be cheap. If you had the parts (try those links above) and the time you could do it yourself.

You can also try CRT http://www.123crt.co.za/ they provide good service at a reasonable price.

Try find the same pannel on Ebay I was also quoted 3k and I got one off ebay for R600 incuding freight.
Then did the installation myself took 5min.

Thanks for this, have bought replacement laptop batteries from laptopaccessories before and had forgot about them, can get a replacement LCD for R1300
