I smashed my laptop's screen:erm:

The laptop is about 4-5 years old.

Where can I get the screen repaired in Pretoria? Any idea what it'll cost about?

Well, the notebook company eventually got back to me (after 3 emails and 2 weeks...) They quote me R3150 to repair the screen. Now I'm rather looking for a Packard Bell EasyNote SB85 17" screen myself. Anyone has any spare parts at home?

Did you bother looking at the above links?

Remove the screen from the laptop and write down the model/part numbers (everything!) on it.

Yes I bothered, thank you. Laptopaccessories doesn't have my model, SPL has it for R1340 which is slightly more that I expected 0 therefor I'm looking if I can find someone else with the same model, but working screen, although I have little hope.

My screen's part number is B170PW03 M30

You'll struggle for a better price, especially for a 17" 4:3 screen. LA only stocks either refurbs or generic widescreen parts, thats why for most laptops they have something cheap and compatible. Go with SPL, their service is usually very good.

Thanks man. I realize I won't easily find cheaper. I'm first looking to see if I can salvage the part from someone else with the same laptop. If I can't find anything within a few days I'll buy it (which will most likely happen).

What you may find is that other laptops used the BxxxPWxx series, which AFAIK is/was manufactured by BenQ. You could always phone Let Me Repair and see if they have any spares, since they are the national BenQ service centre. Don't take their crap, I know they sell to the public if they have the spares in stock.
