Morning,

so im popping in a little thread for some help/advice please guys. Im looking to replace my laptops HDD with a SSD for obviously better performance. Really not interested in those Hybrid drives or so and looking for about a 64GB/128GB for a decent price and performance. My current pc has the basics i use to study with on ie using Notepad++, MS Products and Projects aswell as Visual Studio that we use along with the odd 2/3 games thats.

I pointer of direction would really be appreciated/

Regards
Justin

What kind of performance increase are you looking to get ?

Firstly you need to make sure that your laptop supports at least SATA2, SATA3 would be better. Then you need to find out how much RAM you can have in the laptop, to get real benefits you need 8 gig and not have a page file.

An SSD is money well spent but make sure its something that you can use.

I got a ocz vertex 4 for my lappy. Best decision ever! Awesome performance :) They also seem reliable if you read reviews on newegg and amazon

I have an OCZ Vertex 3 240gb which I have been using in my lappy for the past 2 years. I have Vertex 4 at home (not much difference in performance). There are newer OCZ drives out too now. but depends on your budget (OCZ not cheaper). Esquire stock OCZ range (where I sourced mine). As for performance, love it and battery life is improved.

Currently running a Acer Aspire 750G Laptop (i7 + Upgraded RAM Modules to Kingston 4GB*2)

Looking to improve the performance of it and many many say that a SSD does do that big jump hence the device and why im looking to do pretty much the last performance hardware based boost on the laptop.

Thansk for the replies guys, im looking for some OCZ pricing now and as more suggestions come up i can start narrowing down

You cant compare normal HDD to SSD... Bootup is super fast, waking up from hibernation super fast. Search indexing is amazing. I have an i3-380 and it does all I need (work that is). I dont use my laptop for anything else. So SSD was the best upgrade I have done.

Esquire has the OCZ Vector 128GB for R1399 excl VAT. The Vertex 4 128GB is priced at R1199 excl VAT but is out of stock.
