Hi guys, looking for the above, new or 2nd hand and GB does not matter at the moment. Thank you.

"Around here, anything that can get upgraded to an SSD from an old fashioned hard drive does. While NVMe drives are on the faster cutting edge of storage, most existing systems—especially notebooks—need the more traditional 2.5” SSD format."

You need to be more specific. 500GB SSD's are quite pricey nowadays. Depends on what you want it for.

My laptop says, missing operating system, did the hdd test and it failed. This is my 2nd hdd so I read about ssd being more stable and reliable. I don't need that of a big memory just to get it up and running.

Just get one from takealot, no real specials right now it seems

Ok cool, yes I will have to start from scratch, reloading operating system etc.

Gauteng, yes the standard size, it's HP 8710P

Before you throw your old hdd out...

You probably knew this already, but that message can also mean you have a usb drive plugged in on boot up. Or some other drive which overrides the hdd boot config.

You say the hdd test failed, too, so maybe this doesn't apply.

Correct, didn't need 1, just needed to reload windows but lost other files that could not be recovered.
