Hi, I've got an Acer Travelmate 4280 model BL50.
If you twist the laptop slightly the picture on the screen turns to garbage with lots of vertical lines. then if you twist it again, it shows up perfect.

Do you think this is a broken PCB trace or theres a BGA chip that needs to be reflowed?

My friend who owned the laptop took it in for repairs at Acer 2x, and they claimed they replaced the motherboard the one time, but each time the problem returned. The warranty has ended.
He has given the laptop to me.

Any ideas?

If you turn it and the screen's picture changes, then it simply sounds to me like a loose cable connection which should be very easy to reach. Usually it's just the keyboard / indicator panel that has to be removed to get access to the screen's cable.

I highly doubt that it is an issue that would require reflowing, but it could also be a broken PCB like you said.

Okay, I've got another Acer 15" Laptop LCD panel (from a lower model) which hopefully has the same connector and I could plug that in as a test...
