I've got an HP Compaq nx9110 and if I slide my Volume level up, as soon as I release my mouse click, it automatically slides itself down to zero.

Any idea how to fix this?

I see it being one of two issues:
1. There is another volume control setting that has been automatically set to mute. This control has higher precedence over the one you are using, hence the reset to mute.

or
2. No/incorrectly installed sound drivers, hence no audio output, so the volume control defaults to muted.

Could be wrong, just thought it may help...

I'm willing to accept anything. Any advice on what steps to take to test/fix these?
