Morning,

My friend just got wireless internet last week.PC is running fine.
His laptop shows that it is connected to internet but as soon as you open chrome then it shows no internet connection.

When you connect through a cable it connects and runs fine.
I have run AV and picked up a couple malware and got rid of it but still no connection.

Can the malware have corrupted the registry of Windows 7?
I read that is something that you can change in the registry to fix it but not to certain.

Should I just wipe the laptop and reinstall or can someone point me in a direction to fix this please.

Yes there is but I don't know how to go about setting it up.
The googlez says that I should have unchecked proxy settings and it was unchecked so that's where I think my problem lies...

Thing is when I go to Network Connections / Properties - There is nothing there.
I know that is where you get your TCP 4 / TCP 6 but there is literally no connections.

What happens when you open Command Prompt and run ipconfig /all ? Do you see wireless adapter info?

Yes I see it.Saw in the registry how to restore so I hope that's gonna work.

Gonna try this:

1. Type regedit in RUN or Start search box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network

3. In right-side pane, you'll see a binary key "Config". Select it and press Delete key on your keyboard. You just need to delete Config key.

Don't worry. When you delete the key and open Network Connections folder or restart your system, Windows automatically re-creates the key. By deleting the key we are just clearing the configuration cache.

4. Once you delete the key, close Registry Editor and open Network Connections folder again and now it should show all network adapters without any problem.
