A friend of mine bough a HP laptop via a family friend (first mistake but anyway). The family friend had a whole lot of laptops from HP (mostly refurbished) but they assure us that this specific laptop is new. As the thread title suggeststhe laptop is now giving problems - screen goes all funky at random times. So she is trying to get it fixed. Now I thought that the person that sells the laptop to you should be at least partially liable and would take it back to HP and sort it out? If not, whats the easiest way to get hold of HP? Cant get onto hp.co.za since of the awesome internet problems we're all having today. Anyone on here go through this kind of thing before?
Help is much appreciated :)

Try giving Digital Planet a call, they're the HP reps sort of in South Africa. Their number is 0860245000. They'll need the serial and part numbers located on the white sticker on the underside of the laptop. From there they will be able to tell you if it is still under warranty as you were told.

If it's under warranty then call them 0860001030

Thanks all, internet came back up and got the support number. HP repair centre is checking to see if they have the laptop's details and if its under warranty which it should be (less than 1 year old). If they dont have the details then I'm paying a visit to the guy that sold it and will have a little 'conversation' with him about his business practices.
