Hi looking a laptop for general purposes any ideas where I could get a good deal and is it worth getting a second hand machine?
 
FlashSA sells some laptops here occasionally at very good prices.

I'd shoot for an older laptop but with SSD. (Maybe add that later)

You can get an hp elitebook 820, 840, 850 from about 4-5000 bucks. They have very good battery life (5 hours plus) are quite light and generally well built. Cost about 20k new. Also easy to upgrade ram, harddrive or 3g modem....mu736.

Id run it with an ssd and ideally 8gb of ram with windows 10 64bit. It will really motor then.


If you need more grunt look for an hp zbook which is designed for cad work, but for an everyday run around an hp elitebook 820 weight is a mere 1.2kg or so. And lastly its got most ports, and can run dual monitors out.
