Hello to all,

I am currently in the planning phase of setting up a large scale Wi-Fi network in the residential complex where I reside. I will basically be providing a WISP service to the residents.

The radius that the network would need to cover is +- 150 metres. The complex consists of freestanding houses as well as blocks of flats. Initially, I would want to provide internet services primarily to the residents in the freestanding houses.

My question is: Would a 12dBi Omni-directional antenna coupled with a Ubiquiti Bullet radio device be suitable for this application in terms of signal strength and range? (150m radius) . *Note - there is clear line of site to most of the freestanding houses ; no trees etc.

I do have a layout diagram of the complex available, which could help in understanding the concept better. Anyone who is able to provide advice may PM me and I'll gladly forward the image.

Any advice and recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Omni's are generally a bad idea for many reasons.

Rather have three or four sector antennas, each covering 90-120 degrees.

You will probably also have to have CPE at client locations. Your typical laptop might have problems picking up a signal from 100m away through walls.
