I have made out a will - simple estate, no investments, no debt, no business - with just a single beneficiary and no dependencies so not likely to be contested. What do I do with the original? Do I seal it? Lodge it with a lawyer, keep it safe, give it to the executer? I only have one signed/witnessed Will.

You probably don't bank with FNB, but they have a facility for this, plus it earns you ebucks

Already have the Will all written out and signed. Thanks for the suggestions. Will give to the Executor for safe-keeping.

Make several copies.
1 to the executor, and one to each responsible family member.
You can also give a copy to your church, club, company, financial advisor, accountant, etc.

Also make a file for yourself at home - with all the details of your investments, assets, policies, bank accounts, etc.
Keep it at home in a private and safe place.
Keep it up to date.

According to the attorney that drafted mine a copy is absolutely useless and not accepted at all!

Copy is simply evidence that a valid original will exists so the estate isn't wound up as intestate. Finding a copy will set off the hunt for the original.

Get two witnesses to sign in one another's presence, and say so on the doc. Neither can be beneficiaries.
