Hello there. For about roughly 8 months now I have had high latency when I do a speed test to America . When I do a local speed test everything runs well. Is there any solution to this issue or could assist me on what I should do.

Local and international latency will almost never be anywhere near the same due to the distance the packets travel.
What is your latency to america? It should be +- 150ms to 250ms
Local will normally be anything from 10ms up to around 60ms

I tested to philidelphia and got 255ms. So your latency is not really an issue

If it is on adsl try a trial package from another service provider and see if it is any better. That is about all you can do.

Maybe i'm not the only one but this speed test is done on my Xbox one. The reason why I think my latency was an issue is because that I cannot seem to get into a multiplayer game on forza motorsport 6 although I can play every other game perfectly. I always thought it would be my high latency restricting me . Trust me I have tried every trick in the book to get online. I have thought of using my cellphone data and maybe that would work but that would be costly on my pocket.

Would help if you could post a few speedtests for others' to compare against, plus trace routes to the devices/servers you are referring to as well as indicate who your ISP is and what basic local access service you have ......

Latency is made up of a number of elements. Every device you go though contributes a bit, every hop contributes.

The biggest element on long distance is simply the distance. Over fibre it is about 4 - 5 µsec per km, and can be calculated very accurately.

Overloaded networks adds to the issue.

Once the source and destination is known, a calculation could be done of what the minimum would be. Any excess over that would be due to poor routings or network overload.

I will definitely try and show the results of a few tests once I am able to. My network is not that overloaded. 3 cellphones on wifi, 4 pcs on wifi and 1 xbox one on Ethernet sometimes on the wifi as well. I will show results later of what is going on.
