Latency on bnet

Can someone explain to me why my latency differs so often from time to time. During week days there's noway I can play dota(250+ ping), but in the evening my latency is fine(60-80). Now that its holiday there's noway to play dota at all. Whats happening, to much traffic?

It has all to do with Amount of users thats busy online.

During Office hours everyone is surfing the net, Checking emails etc..

(Night time, everyone is at home. With the occasional surfer or downloader or mail-checker)

Obviously when there's a holiday everyone is at home, prolly gaming / surfing or Skype-ing etc.

Is there something I can do not to be affected by the high traffic?

Get an ISP that is not oversubscribed will be a good start...
