Latency very high !

I experience high latency on both TELKOM capped(1216ms) and Afrihost Uncapped (1305) on a 384kb/s line. Anybody with the same problem ? Download and Upload normal.

Yeah same problem, I'm sitting on a 4mb line. I'm in Port Elizabeth. This past week my adsl was really crappy, keep getting Disconnects etc....

Experiencing the same issues. Disconnects and poor latency. Previously I would sync at 4096...now im at 3070. Any idea what's going on?

I am getting a MASSIVE amount of disconnects each day (about 30 times per day) from April 2010 - have had 4 different cases with Telkom now, still no stable connection.
The DSL keeps on disconnecting and then resynching: even bought a new router, so the problem is not hardware; have two different ISP accounts as well, so it is not the ISP account.

Today the technician should have inspected my line, but after waiting at home for the technician, I just received an SMS saying "service has been restored". This is really horrible service.
I can't play ANY games, I can hardly download anything via a normal web browser, even surfing the web is irritating as I constantly get "Page requested not found" as I need to wait for my connection to re-establish.

My ADSL in Randburg has also been terrible since about April 2010. I've tried a couple ISP accounts and sometimes one is slightly better but I experience severe slow down in the evenings. Talking about 0.2Mb on a 4Mb line - on all ISP accounts. I suspect its the network other side the DSLAM but cant confirm anything. And trying to get any useful info out of Telkom and/or ISP is impossible to say the least!

And yeah cannot stream 360p youtube vids without it buffering. Pretty sure traffic to youtube is throttled by ISPs...

just tested on ping test with AH UC 384
i am in centurion and to joburg and pretoria its higher than 550ms.........
weird but i can play black ops almost lag free......... it just doesnt add up

Mmm that 550 ms ping sounds like your using MWEB, if you are then local servers hosted by SAIX will have high latencies because they cut the local peering with SAIX.

ADSL is a "best effort" service, according to the Telkom "report a fault" website when I choose the "Browsing is Slow" option

Congestion on the internet. ADSL is a best effort service. Throughput is not guaranteed

So, in essence, live with it?
