I know this issue comes up allot but I have just about had enough of it I am on Stormrage server EU and had a latency of between 250-350 at most and now for some unknown reason I an getting between 350-450 I have no clue as to how had telkom at my house today and had them do a through check and they found no problems also none at the exchange. I have a 4mbps unshaped line so dont know y the the last 2 weeks I have been getting high latency's no firewall on or anything that could be causing this problem but when I do a trace route to overseas its excellent no higher than 220ms could it be the Stormrage server? Anyone else having a problem or notice this?

True but if u spending so much money every month then you would expect to get latencies so low. What I am saying is if anyone else has had an increase in latency or is it the server I am on that could be the cause of this?

That is why I said Spoilt :p

People playing on 4MB lines should be gaged from amking any posts about latency and all these other nice things they can do WHILE playing wow :p

It could be server related, tried checking on different servers ?

LOL your just jealous :D and yes checked Twilight's Hammer and found latency to be under 300ms and then checked Light Bringer and that servers latency was between 350 and 400ms so what can you gage from that?

Then I assume it's server related, most of the older servers are known to have latency and stability issues. Look at Sylvanas

Just dont get confused with the difference between bandwidth and latency :D

There are so many things that can affect your latency in game... most of the time if there is a network problem upstream, the network provider can just simply re-route their traffic via another route, and more router hops will ofc means more latency.

You still have to keep in mind your traffic has to travel all the way to Paris / Germany / sweden... depending on where your server is hosted in the EU countries. So getting anything from 250 - 450 ms on a unshaped line is pretty much expected. If you wanna lower that even further, you need to move closer. Your packets still has a damn far way to travel :)

When I moved from bloodhoof (which is hosted Paris ) to Shadowsong (hosted in germany ) I noticed a 30 - 50 MS increase since my data now had to travel further before it reached its destination.

There are currently a lot of server load issues, with the current difficulty of dungeons / raids... more people raiding nowdays than ever in the past. Once your latency goes above 450 ms unshaped, I would say then follow it up with your ISP / telkom.

I have no issues playing on Sylvanas-EU, and I've been on it since 14 April 2005. My latency ranges from 350ms to 450ms on my 384kbps ADSL, unshaped.
