got an email from mweb 2day:
Dear M-Web Member
Telkom has informed us that ADSL capping will now be calculated by adding together both sent and received data. In the past, capping only occurred if either your sent data or received data, but not both combined, exceeded the capping level.
This new Telkom policy takes effect immediately and it applies to all ADSL users in South Africa, regardless of their Internet Service Provider.
Due to Telkom's new policy, you may exceed your 3 Gigabyte cap level earlier than before. If you do, your international access speed will be reduced to less than ISDN speed for the remainder of the month during which you exceeded your cap level.
Now for the good news:
· Even when capped, you will still access local Internet services at your top ADSL speed.
· M-Web's new "My ADSL Usage" facility shows you how much data you have transferred already - so you'll know how much data you can still transfer at top speed before you reach your cap level. To use this facility, simply click here.
· Towards the end of this month, we will introduce new ADSL access options that allow you to choose 6 Gb or 9 Gb capping levels. We will notify you as soon as these options are available.
We will keep you informed of new developments. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, you are welcome to call our Technical Support staff at 082 161 00.
Kind regards
