Latest apps available and info about apps

I was playing with permissions to day, messed up some stuff and was considering wiping my phone (before figuring it out)
But in the mean time I made a note of all my favourite apps. I thought I'd share the list.
(in no particular order)

whositblinking
startmeup
google talk
MSN
IM+ (skype and work MSN)
FlashBack (flashlight prog)
Mobile Auction Manager (ebay)
ShowEventLog (figure out problems)
Google Maps
Gmail
Google mobile app
mxit (chat to people with java phones for free)
GPS Tool
facebook
Opera (decent column web browser)
dictionary.com
Trapster (speed traps)
whatsapp
Chatmosphere IRC (does the job)
battery watch (tells u when u have 30% left and when phone finished charging)
drivesafe.ly (trial has limited use, 25 words max. can't close it ever which is annoying)

Trying out bolt now. I've installed a bunch of crappy apps and removed them.
apps removed:
one touch flashlight (time limited, constantly updating for nothing, nonsense)
caller id reader "upgrade to remove this message!"
auto reboot/restart: figured out the buttons. hold: left alt and right shift and right delete
force close (doesn't work)
ghost camera (lame)
gps waypoint manager (no interest)
monitor (battery monitor)
PB Task manager (useless)
text n drive (didn't work or whatever)
vectir: (bluetooth PC control, claims free, isn't, don't need)

Ok, got a new 9780 yesterday, still getting use to it. How do I know if my BIS has been activated and how do I know if a app is using BIS instead of 3G?

If you seeing appworld, cam use bbm and email then ur bis is enabled. Those r 3 things that wont work without it.

As for if you apps using bis, safe bet about 98% at least do use bis, their are a. Ery small few thar don't, be careful of ota backup aps. There is absolutely no way of knowing on an app by app basis weather or not its uaing bis, if in it has network settings then change it from auto to bis and it then wont worm if bis fails.

There is no way to force bis only, if bis goes down aps on auto and aps that can work without bis will simply continue working.

Do not stream any media like youtube, in some cases podcasts have also bypassed bis.

Do not expect all your usage to be free and do not be surprisex if there are data charges on your bill at the end of the month, in most casez these charges are small however, normally only a few randa unlwss u have 1 of those non-bis ots bacup aps running on auto.

Hi Guys,

If I own a BlackBerry (not on contract), are there any risks in using the BIS, like exceeding what has been given/allocated to you? I only got the BB recently and I am knew to this BIS thing. Thanks in advance.

Standard on-device browsing is included in your BIS charge of R50pm. Streaming will be charged at standard data rates (if you don't have a separate data bundle). Abusing the service to download massive files messes up the network for everyone.

Thanks for the reply. Does this mean I can choose to buy a data bundle instead of using the BIS. I tried to put in my cell C sim card but I couldn't get connected. I even thought maybe i need this BIS so that i can download other standalone browsers such as opera mini and from there I probably could surf using this opera and my data bundle.

Without BIS the Blackberry apps like BBM/AppWorld/Protect won't work. BIS is fine for normal browsing.

Having a problem with the FNB app - used to work great before, but now it just restarts my phone. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Anyone else had this?
