Latest firmware for Xperia play?

Hi all.

I'm trying to get the xperia play updated to the latest firmware which I believe is 2.3.4. The problem is vodacom is slow and the phone insists that 2.3.2 is the latest version.

So what I would like to know is if I go to the following site:

will debranding allow me to update to the latest firmware? And has anyone else used the above site before?

Haven't used it before but it's legit since a lot of people on XDA use it.

And yes flashing the latest firmware from the site will update your phone to the latest version. Since however there is no 2.3.4 available for South Africa yet (Vodacom has nothing to do with it since the SE PC Companion for instance also doesn't list 2.3.4 as an option yet since SE has only rolled it out in Europe) you will lose all future OTA updates (since the regions won't match between what's on your phone and the server the update is requested from) and thus any possible way of rooting your phone without unlocking the bootloader and voiding the warranty completely. (Rooting without unlocking the bootloader can incidentally also only be done on 2.3.2)

Also flashing using WotanServer you automatically wipe all data from your phone so back stuff up beforehand.

Honestly I'd just wait.

Kinda odd that your phone insists that 2.3.2 is the latest though since it it's as new or newer than my Neo which is running 2.3.3 (and doesn't see anything newer either).

Darn. It's gonna be a long wait considering the two features that I'm really looking forward to (xLOUD and 720p video recording) is only in the new update

Hopefully SE don't take their time with ICS.

They will especially because they put their own spin on things (and a few of the improvements of ICS already exist in SE Firmwares)

I also don't get the point of 720P recording with a 5MP sensor but whatever.

And I dunno about your PLAY but my Neo is more than loud enough already.

Do you have a link or some more info about the sensor. I want to understand more about how this works.
