Latest PS3 firmware

My brother has a PS3 slim - but no internet.

I've got some data expiring soon so I thought I'd get him the latest firmware (will it play MKV?)

Anyone know the best site to get it from? I type in latest firmware, but I'm not sure if the US version will work with NTSC or anything. No idea how this works ....

Follow gremcc's post for updating, using a USB stick is simple .

As to playing MKV, only if you on Firmware 3.41 or 3.55 can you jailbreak it but this comes with a sacrifice that you won't be able to play the latest 3.6x and 3.7x firmware games.

There is something being worked on, but thats for another thread .

No but mkv2vob is your friend. Can bulk convert .mkvs at rapid speed (only seconds for smaller files).

Yep we should use the UK or SA website to get firmware cause south africa use's pal system ps3
