Hi there,

Theres a Monitor Sale on @ PC Zone (www.zones.co.za) and I'm trying to decide which one to get. Looking for a 22" wide screen. In terms of all round performance and picture quality, which one is the best?

Samsung T220 @ R2299

OR

Samsung 2233BW @ R1899

OR

LG 22425-BN @ R1899

Thanks,
Stephen

It depends if you want a gloss or matt screen...
The 2233BW has pretty much the same spec as the T220 but is a matt finish.

I can't really comment on the LG cos I haven't seen those "in the flesh" and I'm also very biased toward Samsung display - IMO, they have the best displays on the market right now

Agreed with charlie on samsung. I'm going for in there today, will see if i can sneak a peak at the models , they generally do not have turned on displays though.

The T220 is 2ms, not 5ms! False advertising
Website takes a while to open.... Could have made a PDF
Go for the bigger screen, i.e. 23+" and higher resolutions... look for HDMI port, as this will compliment newer tech, so you could keep the same screen for an extra 3 years (xbox, bluray, dstv hd pvr, etc...)

Just got my T220 this morning, and it's AwEsOmE! Can't go wrong with it!

There has been a lot of confusion with the response times on the Samsungs lately. Some resources say 2MS, others say 5MS.
Either way, the difference cannot be seen by the human eye.

**PRICE UPDATE**
The T220 is now R2199
The website will be updated later today

That's good to hear, and you have to admit those prices are almost too good to pass up, hmmm a T240 would look good on my study desk :D

EDIT: Okay I made some effort and found an answer to my own q regarding dead pixels:

"The minimum number of defective pixels we allow before we will replace an in warranty monitor is as follows:
For a 15" Monitor - 7 or more bad pixels
For 17" and 19" Monitors -10 or more bad pixels
For 21" - 24" Monitors - 17 or more bad pixels.

For questions or the replacement procedure, please contact our Customer Care Center at 0860 SAMSUNG (0860726786)."

IF you are willing to put up with their cr@ppy service.

BTW, what is the Samsung dead pixel policy on these monitors? Or more to the point, what is PC Zone's policy. Has anyone opened their shiney new LCD from them and found dead pixels?

Agreed,

Bought the 20" Samsung LCD yesterday from them..only to find out it comes with A UK POWER SUPPLY!!!

So I call them up and tell the guy I think there was a mistake, there is a UK power cable here and not S.A. He goes to me that's how they come shipped. So if they come shipped with no power supply is that fine?? Then I ask him if I can get a swapout, he says no. I must cut the friggen cable buy a local 3 prong and do it myself. wat BS.

Us saffers take this crap that's y they keep giving it to us.
