You're not going to notice the difference anyway :)

You will definitely hear a difference between the sound of a HDMI 1.3a complient system and a HDMI 1.2 complient system. He was refering to the Xbox and thus I asked a question.

Trying to be a clever DOLBY DICK again?

I was not at all refering to the PS3, You were refering to the Xbox for some reason, I just refered a question to the sound. Dolby tried to rip this off topic by baiting with his cr@p. I have contributed to the topic concering the LCD or Projector. Stop been an Idiot!

The projector I was referring to under R5000 has these specs:

Display Technology: DarkChip2 DLP Technology by Texas Instruments Resolution: Native 720p Resolution: 1080p (1920 x 1080) Brightness: 1600 Lumens

Is this considered to be hd?

Amazon have it for $669 - which is about R4950

[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-HD65-720p-Theater-Projector/dp/B000XOKZ8U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256413384&sr=1-1[/ame]

and then probably on ebay cheaper, haven't done much research yet.

10K gets you an acceptable projector... a decent projector starts at about R20k and ramps up VERY qucikly from there.

A decent projector would be about R30,000. It's a full HD projector. However, a R30K projector will give you a 70-80 inch picture or better, to get the same size screen you'd need a R150K plasma. Such a monster would probably not fit into your house.

Here's a full HD Sony projector - it seems it is out of Stock, R25K.

The next best one appears to be R39K!

Ok now we're talking. :D

I'm a little worried about the picture in the day time but look at the customer pics on amazon, that seems reasonable doesn't it? I can definitely see myself watching sport at that screen size!

I'm off to the states next month and I can pick one up at Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3228797 for the same price as Amazon and bring it back with me... I can avoid paying the import tax like that?

What do you guys think? That's half the price of a decent LCD?

If you're willing to spend 10K, there's a member on Prophecy selling a CRT projector for that amount. You don't get much better and their tubes last around 10000 hours. They're very heavy but they're full HD and colour reproduction is amazing.

if you are going to the US then you should be able to find better deals instore such as open box etc, maybe get a spare bulb while you at it and also you can double check that they are 240v compatible, so yeh, good idea to see what they have.......re customs, yeh, just wrap it up as a gift, doesn't look too heavy anyhow

[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-HD20-Definition-Theater-Projector/dp/B002G0CWSU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256472041&sr=1-3[/ame]

But, OUCH are the bulbs for the HD65 a little bit pricey... [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-BL-FS180C-Projector-Lamp-Theater/dp/B00181F6PO/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256472041&sr=1-13[/ame] $300
