Hi,

I am looking at getting myself a LCD screen before the end of the month and would like some input from people who use them already.

I've looked at reviews and technical faqs and narrowed the field down to what I want to buy.

What I am looking for is comments on any real difference between a 12ms, 8ms or 3ms screens.

I use the computer for gaming, FPS and others, and for watching DVD's and TV.

All the reviews point to the 3ms screen as being the best, but what I want to know is it really worth the extra $$ over an 8ms screen.

regards.

i have my old LCD 24ms screen for over 3 years now.. to be honest i dont see why all the whining about 3,8,12,16 ms all about... i play FPS, RPG, RTS and other games without hassles or ghosting.

perhaps its coz my eyes got used to it but to be on topic, go for a 4 or 8ms screen.

why the extra $$$ for an 8ms screen? AFAIK the fastest screen thus far is 4ms...

If I could I would give vital parts of my anatomy for one of those but as an all round screen it lacks a bit. For gaming it's as good, if not better, than a CRT. For watching movies it's apparently not good at all.

If you want something that can do both well, try the Viewsonic VP912.

LCD screens look cool and everything, but is it really neccessary? I would much rather prefer an 19' CRT for almost the same price of an 15' LCD.

any LCD is a blessing when you go to a LAN or Rage event. I went to rage and had every bit of my PC on me without resorting to trolleys and multiple trips to the car.

besides, an LCD gives you more room on the desk and a higher resolution with minimal eye strain.

i've got a viewsonic vx924; 19" and advertised 3ms (but seriously doubt that) and don't have any hassles gaming on bf2. have also played bf2 on the vx724; 17" with no problems.

You never going to get an LCD that performs like a CRT screen at the end of the day. But, the Viewsonic VX924 is pretty adequate as far as LCD's go.

true. but you will never get an CRT that runs @ 1280x1024 under your arm neither. :p

You don't have to sell LCD to me. I have 2 x 19" Viewsonic VX912's in dual screen :D
