I keep getting a "LCP Down" message on my router - and the only way to fix it is to turn the router off for a minute or two... what causes this? And how can I fix it.

Its annoying when it happens and I'm not home.

Thanks... Going to log another fault with Telkom.

ISP is Telkom.

Its a Telkom ADSL network fault. They need to check on their side. Its not your pc or router

This will be the forth issue logged with them.

It only started when I moved to them as an ISP

Telkom got back to me saying its not the line... so not there problem. They also said its not my router... so they don't know: (

Out of interest, I've noticed it sometimes does this if I'm on the home phone for around 5min....

Did you resolve your problem?

I've had this happen to me twice in last two days (the first time it was as the phone rang).

On this trhead http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/157355-What-does-it-mean-Initialize-LCP/page2 Chavez mentions

You should also make sure that you have a proper ADSL SPLITTER on ALL your phone lines that are incoming from Telkom ( fax / hand-held / mobile etc )

It might be the solution to my situation (since we have two phones and I'm only splitting on the one that the router is plugged into).

We have two cordless phones, but only one base station which has a splitter... Telkom moved me on the exchange, and it hasn't happened in about a week.
