Le Mans 2023

Nascar cars are very sensitive like the rest of Murica. other then whether the engine would last the 24hrs, i wonder if it would not just flip with air movement while being passed by the faster when passed by a Hypercar :p

The NASCAR engine is an incredible piece of engineering. Just the forces applicable when looking stroke of the pistons, running @ 9000RPM, and how the engine holds together is a engineering marvel.

On the Datona 500 oval these cars run at 9000 plus rpm for 800km. Those LS motors are strong. They should perform well as there is lots of slow turns. Engine will last for sure. They were already 3 seconds faster then any other car in the GT class. i am exited to see them run

The motors are strong for those constant high rev runs. Even with a few races on normal tracks with turns they seem to manage. Burt i wonder whether, with taking into consideration changes in setup (Weight adjustments), lots on constant high brake areas and turns, requiring change in revs, gearing, braking, whether a Nascar will manage. i guess they have taken this into consideration for the intial setup but will it endure.

You know they drive those cars on normal road tracks aswell, right?

That Camaro is probably so heavy on fuel it will need way more pit stops than the rest.

Eurosport 2.
Lots of Acestream links and other sources if you Google a little.

I've used a Polish Eurosport 2 Acestream which also has an English-commentary audio-feed.

I didn't realise you could change audio stream!

Have been limiting searches to [UK] content :X3:

The Pirates have upped their streaming game as Acestream improves a well.

There was a F1 race as well where the AceStream had all 26 on-boards embedded into it as well. Granted, you needed 25Mb/s+ to be able to even use it. Haven't seen it in the last couple of races.

20 years ago I camped out in my buddy's lounge over the weekend.
4 of us were playing Grand Turismo on endurance mode
We took it in shifts racing for 24hrs non stop while we had the tv next to us watching the le mans for 24hrs

What an awesome weekend it was, the memory will stay with me forever.
I used to email Hannes Oosthuizen to ask him to set up a tournament in one of the Gauteng Malls for race weekend, with PS3 systems, never got a reply. Would have been epic.

Well you can pull faces all you want, a fast car will not win if its spending too much time in the pits while the rest is ticking of the laps.

It is running in its own special category. Garage 56, which the team is occupying, is reserved for concept and otherwise creative projects that fall outside Le Mans' competitive regulations under the guise of 'Spirit of Le Mans'.

In short, they're not there to win because they are not racing anybody. They're there to be, in Button's words, ''different''. Running at the end of 24-hours will be seen as a success.

“The car is so obnoxious,” Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula 1 champion and one of the car’s three drivers for Le Mans, said in an interview. “It’s so loud, so big, so aggressive, and it’s so not Le Mans, but it fits in perfectly because it’s so different from anything else.
“A Cup car isn’t built to do 24 hours, so getting to the finish, for anyone at Le Mans, is a big deal,” Button said. “So that’s the main goal for the whole team.”

Saying all the above, it is fast. Faster than the GTEs in practice and quali, but they may just tone it down in the race to have a chance of finishing.

“It is quick, but you don’t think it’s going to be that quick because there’s so much work that goes on, you’re fighting it all the time,” Button said. “It’s also quite forgiving in the way that you can drift the car.

“But it’s not like a single-seater, like an F1 car, that’s basically stuck to the road. You’re trying to catch oversteer and big understeer in places. It’s a workout. It really is. And I think that’s why we find it fun. We always come in laughing like, ‘What the hell? This thing is nuts.’ And it is.”

How long would the Nascar car need be a concept before being allowed to be a new category or added to the regular race. understand they have to meet regulations but other than that?
