Thanks all,
Had already followed up with dell and scheduled for next week, was info for the community![]()
Also bought a notebook with upgraded ram and SSD from Evetech. Started giving issues. Dell sorted everything out including replacing the SSD.That's not Dell sorting it out, now is it? The non-Dell components are for the reseller to sort out. Our definitions may vary but Dell telling you that they can't replace a non-Dell component isn't sorting it out.
It still doesn't help the consumer who is (as it appears) unaware that his laptops' warranty option may not cover a major component and thus for any issues related to that component he does not in fact have a next business day on-site warranty?

What's a depreciation charge ?Ive read some evetech horror stories, yours is not one tho.
Wait till they charge you a depreciation charge on your RMA then report back.

FWIW I had Builders Warehouse try and do the same thing to me recently. The item was discounted on Black Friday and the price I got it for was below their current cost price (price went up 40% since then). They claim because an item has aged it has depreciated in value thus you will have to pay in even though it's under warrantyBunch of snakes.
Name and shame brand of SSD, sounds like an el cheepo flea market one to die in 3 weeks.
If Evetech does "30 days of troubleshooting" and claim there is no fault on a memory module.
What are the legal possibilities to get them to help rather than have them dismiss the issue outright?
