I'm a new driver been driving for 5 months I wouldn't say I'm perfect but I can drive from point A to B. I can't drive in busy areas like Joburg I'm still scared of traffic taxi driver. I have a learner sticker at the back my colleagues and friends say it's time to remove it. I just want to know how long can I drive with a learner sticker cause me it does not bother me.I can go with it for 2 years if it's possible

You're no longer a learner, don't think you should have the sign up. Also to get your confidence up, drive every where, get in as much driving as possible, even if it's to the shop and back.

Try get your confidence up as quickly as possible.

A very nervous driver makes the road that much more dangerous for the people driving near you.

And take the sticker off - you don't need it anymore.

By law is the a duration when one should have the sticker at the back. Around Rustenburg I can drive just scared of Joburg traffic

I don't think that sticker means anything to anyone else than you. I never drove with one - couldn't see the point. People around you will drive like raving lunatics, whether you have a sticker or not.

There is no actual law about it.

You can even drive without it from the start.

It's more of a courtesy thing towards others drivers to go softer on you.

You can leave it on there even after getting your licence if you think it helps.

Are you a new driver, only having learners for 5 months or do you only have your licence for 5 months?

When I see a learners sticker on a car I just make sure I overtake as quickly as possible.

leave it as long as you want. We are all learning, each and every day. If you are not learning, you are not living.

I do have a license I have noticed that people do overtake me because of the sticker :-)

Are you sure the sticker is why you are being overtaken? How did you come to that conclusion?

I drive normal like everyone else I 'm not slow lol I sense you one of those who hate to see us with the sticker on the road :-)

No, it's cause I knew someone with a new license and she would drive 40km/h on a 120km/h highway...
This pretty much. Once got stuck behind a learner doing 20KM/h in a 120 zone while it was raining. Can overtake, and got huge trucks closing in. Was promptly pissed off, and took the first off ramp available. Learners should not be allowed on highways at all.

Lol I can imagine it was not me buddy I can drive on freeway but why should learners be kept out off freeway we all start somewhere. My first time going to the shopping centre I was driving 40km/p on gear 3 when I look back now I laugh. And everyone was looking at me like WTF but I was comfortable and safe.

That's a daft statement to make - everyone has to start somewhere...

I didn't say it was you... let me bring up another learner issue from a few months ago. Was driving in traffic on the highway. Traffic came to a standstill, and the person infront of me stalled (was probably not a learner, but had a learners sticker on their car). In a panic they just tried to get their car started, and rolled backwards.

If the person has a learner sticker on their car I give them space, problem solved :)

That is why is adviceble to leave a space in traffic standstill. I will admit I still struggle in bumper to bumper traffic that is where my learner sticker has helped me. People stay far away from me and I do the same leaving enough space.
