Learners permit on a 300cc bike

Just been wondering lately, if I were to procure a 300cc motorbike, how dangerous would it be to ride it with a learners permit (and aged 17) in the eyes of the law? What fines would I be likely to receive?
 
Illegal.
You'd probably be suspended from getting your licence for a couple of years, and/or fined for driving without a valid license.
 
If you're in any type of accident, you'll be held liable because you shouldn't have been on the road.

You won't be covered by insurance.

R500 per stop at least plus suspension of your learners permit for 5 or more years.

Do the up to 125cc BS for another year man. You are going to regret getting the 300cc machine after getting your licence.
 
from experience.
when you do get caught, and your licence gets suspended, it is not just your bike licence.
it is your ability to book any licence at all.
no car, no truck no bike no NOTHING.

trust me, I have been though it.

just stick to the 125, it is not worth the risk.

It is also much easier to pass the test on a smaller bike - they have you drive around in an area the size of a tennis court.

When I did mine there was a dude on a Harley with the long front wheel forks. He struggled, due to turning circle problems.

There were a couple of biggish bikes, they struggled as there is a point in the test when you need to accelerate towards a set of lights, and then depending on which light switches on, to swerve to that side and stop at a certain point.

The problem with the bigger bikes is that they accelerate pretty fast so can easily get well beyond the minimum (30km/h I think) which reduces the time you get to react to the light. Most people are not used to accelerating to only 30km/h!

I did it on a 125, so no such problems.

You you only got certified for an A1 permit and not A?
 
Just wait till you are 18.

Of if you already have a 125, just stick with it.

I also did the A later. I come from Zimbabwe so I ****ed up a little there, not knowing the codes and stuff, and I needed a license ASAP when I arrived.
