Learning about colours and web/app design..

Hello, I would like to know whether you can point me to a tutorial/book that teaches about colours in
design (web or app it doesn't matter).
The reason I ask is because I have time and want to research it, as opposed to just picking colours randomly or having a plain design that looks dull.

Any assistance will be appreciated.
