The company that I work for in Jo'burg has been bought by a Cape Town based company.
We are currently looking into linking the 2 offices so that we can share accounting systems, VOIP access and etc.
I requested a quote for a Diginet line from Telkom and they want R12897.24 for a 1 meg and R20363.55 for a 2 meg line ,yes that is per month.

I would love to use 4 Meg ADSL lines with a VPN, but being limited to 512 k/bit makes it too slow.

Is there any other alternatives available?

There are various alternatives. Bonded adsl lines like Vox fishbone, or business wimax offerings from the likes of Vodacom or Neotel. I know neotels 8MB wimax (3MB up) was recently launched at about R4500pm uncapped. Then you can use an mpls or ipsec vpn between you branches.

I am sure there are other options from the other big players.
