Need to replace a few bulbs and love the incandescent look of LED filament bulbs. Are they OK for bedrooms? Do they tend to flicker after a while? Am I better off getting standard LED bulbs?

Socket is E14 and here are some options. They seem much the same across the various brands. I would prefer higher wattage, lumens and temperature, i.e. warm white 3000K over 2700K.

They're only really for the look, if it's enclosed just get the standard ones.

Have a few on a Hollywood mirror and outdoor string lights with no issues but they're not used very often. Go into a restaurant and see how many are broken and that makes me think they don'tast terribly long.

They are more for decorative purpose. As the above gent says, use regular LED lamps
You can get Cool white, Daylight and Warm white

Thanks. Not enclosed so going for the look, and yes, I'm aware they don't last as long as normal LED. True about restaurants, they're often missing a few filament bulbs.

Power vs light, watt/lumens is bad.. it’s decor light.

Last I saw you get them in 5-15w these days too (older ones use to be 40-60w, which is equiv power I use to light entire house think about it) so at least they a bit of an energy hole as the past.

We need to move.. I only get to do the bulbs when we move because leds last very long. I like bulb shopping..

They're plenty bright enough.

Issue is that UAE has a patent/version that is better that lasts longer, rest of the world gets a substandard version that's designed to last around 3-5 years, this was based on a YT video about it, and English guy was taking both versions apart and talking about it, if someone knows what video I'm talking about would be great if can link, can't remember when I watched it so can't check history correctly.

As said, if can actually see the bulb, feel free to get, else just stick with normal LED bulbs.

Current Osram Dulux Superstar 7W = 420lm (attached)

5W LED = 470lm

4.5W LED filament = 400lm

Since it’s a bedroom light, chandelier style with 3 bulbs (currently 2 operational), I think the filament ones will be OK for light output. I just don’t want them as warm as the restaurant ones, so hopefully 3000K will be fine.

Bought a 6 pack of the 4w brown filament bulbs off Takealot at the start of the year for about R350...think the brand is called JNC. So far so good, none broken yet. I don't think anyone buys these for it's lighting ability, it's decorative, sets a nice ambience, and even at it's low lumen output I am can see perfectly around me. Might be an issue if you plan to read or work under these bulbs.

That would be Clive, from bigclivedotcom.

I have noticed that LED bulbs with a diffusing casing i.e. non-see-through, diffuse light quite nicely, so depending on the application, they do provide more light than the glass ones

They're also not very bright.

That's true. I think my current Osrams, mentioned above, are like that. Definitely a more pleasant LED light.

You can search Youtube watched history (under that section) on the app and computer.

Bought these from Checkers and they’re nowhere near 3000K/warm white. More like 4000K/daylight. Will need to return them. Compared to the old 3000K LED globes.

Update. Found the right ones. Bright Star Lighting, 2700K. Slightly warmer than the Checkers Lumaglo 3000K. Happy.

Two on the left are the 2700K, right is the 3000K.

I use two of them in my lounge when watching movies. Just dim enough to create a nice atmosphere.
No flickering after months of use.

As previously mentioned, only really good for decoration.

These ones pack quite the punch at 400lm. Certainly not decorative ones!

Yes, they're perfect for bedrooms! However, you should do some research and find a brand that's affordable and that offers good quality.

No problems yet with the Bright Star Lighting ones.
