Left 4 Dead demo local server?

Looking for a Left 4 Dead demo download from a local server.. I've checked ftp.games.saix and ftp.agasa.co.za, but no luck there

Any ideas? Don't want to even consider buying the game unless I can at least check it out a bit, I heard the demo is just with bots and 1 level or something, that's fine.

Unfortunately, the demo was disabled upon the full game's release. Pretty dumb in my opinion. I'd like some of my friends to try it out, but it's a lot of cash to spend only to find out you don't like it.
I'm hoping for a 'Free Weekend' on Steam that features L4D, or a couple of guest passes.

Yeah, judt don't want to have to download it via Steam (international) and then I find I don't like it, or there's only one or two 'free weekends'. The last online game I bought (Quakewars) was an epic failure because nobody played it anymore after about 2 months
