Left 4 Dead

Not a bad game at all. It doesn't take too long to finish the scenes - lots of zombie killing which is good fun.

Following on from the success of its Zombie co-op shooter masterpiece Left 4 Dead, Valve has announced that the first major content update for the game will be coming this spring, bringing with it an entirely new game mode and more versus support.

The update, headed to both Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, will include the as yet un-detailed “Survivor” game mode, which we wouldn’t be too surprised if it turns out to be something along the lines of the very popular Horde mode in Gears of War 2 or the Zombie Survival bonus level in Call of Duty: World at War, with the survivors defending a single position against ever increasing mountains of enemies.

The new versus content, currently described as just two new campaigns, will likely be the much anticipated versus play of the original’s Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns which was left out of the retail release – good news for those who enjoy the glee of authorised griefing with the help of 40ft prehensile tongues and exploding fatties.

The update will also bring with it the much anticipated Left 4 Dead SDK, finally allowing the mod community to start creating its own campaigns and levels – something that Left 4 Dead, with its limited four campaigns, has been crying out for.

No news on release dates or pricing yet, but we thoroughly expect Valve to release the pack as a free update as it has done previously with new content and maps for Team Fortress 2.

Hey guys,
Played left 4 dead for the first time on xbox and i loved it. Just ordered it for PC.
I see there are SGS and isGaming servers... i just wanna know;
Are these servers busy ?
Say all local ones are empty.. is it possible to play on overseas servers with regards to latency and fps games?
I would think its okay since you play against the "server" and not actual players but would just like confirmation from people who have experience.

one of the best horror survival titles out there. everything in it is just awesome. been playing it too much :D
 
making me jealous now :( only gonna get it in like 3-5 days :(

servers aren't to busy, during the night most people play versus. maybe 2 or more servers full with normal co-op and then a few survival servers. Versus is the *****. lol. but really hard if you haven't "mastered" co-op.

there's a few l4d servers. saix, IS gaming and vodacom gaming servers. some overseas servers have good latencies, not great for an fps. but on my 3G if i'm lucky i'll get an international server with 300 to 400 ping. If you have alot of steam friends then invite people to join you for a game. If you play single player while online and logged into steam, you'll still be able to get achievements. If your smart and now how to use the console in single player, you'll be able to get alot of achievments as well... I'm not sure if i answered your question, but love the game, just hope some RSA servers will run custom maps when a few good ones come out...

Problem is i dont relaly want to play single player cause the AI are dof. Yes they can aim well n stuff but you cant control them. so i really wanna play multiplayer and learn to play the game properly. Do you get achievements on the PC version?

The AI tends to sit at the extremes of the 'intelligence' range. The can be brilliant, good aim, quick to rescue you, but they are very easily overwhelmed, sometimes even choosing to rather keep a horde off of you while you are being ripped up by a hunter.

Multiplayer is where all the fun is though. :D

And yes, there are achievements on the PC version.
 
tx man :) just played a few versus... quite lekker. Im just very k@k at being infested :p Is there any way to just search servers and find games to join. Every time i search for servers it just creates one :(
