Left UUNet

Well UUNet really let me down big time - I guess they can use the Proudly South African logo now.

I moved away a couple of days ago as well and am enjoying having ADSL again.

well johan even offered me another account for a month because of all the bashing i took and did i take a bashing but being the kinda guy (who couldnt care less about most things) i took it but im glad it didnt blow up in my face

and we should be thankful for allyoucaneat they started the big cheaper bandwidth wars

I was one who defended UUNET from the onset on vehementely....and I got disappointed so much. Pretending as they care, nothing has been done. p2p was shaped, the service became more and more pathetic until not useable anymore.
It is really looks to me, that UUNET has choosen that dirty way to get rid of their oversubscriptions. (Homeusers) so they can go without upgrading and spending money for the much more lucrative corporate business.

UUNET has really done everything to damage their good reputation they had and they will pay the price. I am pretty sure of that.

Yes we can be really gratedul to those people. I really hope, that Telkom does not find a way to shut them down.

I would love to know what happened with UUnet. I have been using them for around 5 months now and since around 2 weeks ago, my bandwidth dropped to around 5-7kb/s. I am unsure as to why this happened and I do not believe this is due to shaping, since ftp, http and p2p has been affected.

Sometimes the bandwidth drop so low that my MSN cannot even sign in. Can anyone shed more light on this? I have bought a Telkom 30gb account for the moment, but I will have to cancel my uunet account if this does not improve.

Firstly Killadoob and Noone!!!

Please apply a decent language here!!!

Secondly, UUNET oversubscribed. They sold the bear's skin already without having him shot.

Just for info. UUNET will cancel the uncapped service and replace it with a pay as you use....

Im seriously worried, are you all still having problems? My torrents flying all the time at full speed(yes since monday) and my latency locally and browsing/ftp is full speed(no bull****ting)

Only problem is international gaming ie. the packetloss is there, otherwise the service is rocking now.

I wouldn't say it's fine - it seems it's been up and down like a yoyo ?

To my mind, it's no better than a Sentech or WBS connection that is giving you k@k - your not getting what your paying for and you never know whether it's going to suck or not.

My Telkom account is rock solid. I've just got myself a 10gig axxess account for the rest of the month to give it a test run, will be logging in as soon as I've got the most out of my Telkom one ! - hoping to snag another 2gig before int. is capped.

I personally feel that steering clear of uncapped accounts is the best idea. Heck, if you can get 30gig of data for R579 and it's identical to what you would get with Telkom/SAIX, that's the best deal.

And with Telkom soon to introduce local capping ...

well since monday, fullspeed on everything, basicly the way it was before the shaping of whatever they did. Only the packetloss still remain internationally.

I suppose whichever way you look at it, things are slowly improving for broadband here with this mini-ISP price war going on.

Lets just hope Telkom don't throw a spanner in the works ! ;)
