In June 2018 I booked 6 nights at the Letsatsi Lodge, VanRhynsdorp for a class reunion in August 2018. I paid the full amount R5370.
Unfortunately I had to cancel the booking due to unforeseen circumstances . They acknowledged the cancellation and paid back the money minus 20%.
According to their cancellation policy 20% fee is payable if the booking is cancelled less than 31 days prior to arrival. My booking was cancelled more than 31days prior so they owe me the full amount.
After 3 months they are just ignoring my letters, not even explaining why they are not paying back the money.
The amount outstanding is about R1200, It is not much but a matter of principle to me, I just hate it when people ignore me..
Do you think it is worthwhile to consult an attorney to write a letter or what do you suggest ?
Thanks in advance

What about taking them to small claims court? Just the threat (receiving the summons or intent from the court) of them having to appear might be enough to get them to pay up?

What was the reason for you being unable to use the booking? The CPA sometimes applies if you were hospitalized etc.
Double check the day you cancelled and whether it’s 31 calendar days or working days.
If you want to get their attention without costing too much then send a couriered letter of demand to an executive director of the company (signed for) stating that if they do not refund you in full you will engage the services of an attorney and such action will be for recovery of the amount and the attorneys costs. If they ignore that then go the small claims route or pass it on to an attorney.

Thank you for your replies.
It was calendar days, but their cancellation policy did not specify working days..the reason for the cancellation of the booking was not for medical reasons .
