Lemons or lemonade

AHhh... that would be why I dont know it :) Though I have been using the Oly software so that would explain why I'f been pretty much getting the same from RAW as the JPG's when developing. I must just though, but I think LR also kept the camera data in the RAW files

Does anyone here use DPP? I haven't bothered installing it for years

It's horrible as a workflow app, but it has some useful controls. It's noise reduction is pretty good.

I don't use it, only play around with from time to time. One thing I like is being able to apply to the RAW file what the camera would have done (which I'm happy with, some, if not most of the time), but tweak certain elements, such as sharpening and luminance noise reduction.

What would be nice is if adjustments can be exported to and imported from a standard format. That would allow us to bring back the changes from roundtripping to, say, Photoshop, and have Aperture/Lightroom apply that to your image, instead of bringing back a monsterous tiff file.

I've read that the latest versions of LS and PS can work together. But since I cant afford them.. Its going to be a long while before I know how it works

LS?

I'm guessing Kalvaer meant LR (lightroom)

If you cant afford to use the software, how will you ever learn it?
It's a Catch 22, and Adobe knows it.
They also know that many users who pay for their software, started off not paying for it...

That's why they give you a 30 day trial.

And if you know which files to delete, you can get another 30 days...

Lightroom. Photoshop, Lightshop, Photoroom.. they are all a blur to me... but you are right, Sorry I meant "LR"

Even though they have the 30 day demo, I still think the price is unrealistic for what you are getting. At least in terms of ZAR

I agree the price is unrealistic, unless you can claim it as a business expense. So instead, what would you do? Many a cash-strapped user, finds a way...

I wish I knew a way to claim it as a business expense.... At least not for anything photographic. Even if I was PRO, it would still be hard. My Brother in Law is a brillent photographer, His ideal thing would be nature and botany photography. However there is no money in it and he has had to resort to model photography (Of which though he is still damn good)

If he personally cant afford it as a professional photographer, how do they expect us normal people to do the same??? Or mayby i'm just not normal and still wishing I was 3 or 4 classes above my salary and need to wake up and smell the roses, instead of pretending to take photo's of them

What I am hinting at is that people Pirate software they can't afford.

Understandably it comes down to your moral judgment in this regard.

My take on it is, if you are pirating software purely for gaining a skill or creative growth, it's justifiable.

Then, when or if you are in a position to afford the software, you can pay your respects.
