Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a new gaming laptop. The Lenovo Y520 seems to offer quite a lot of bang for your buck - more so than other laptops in the same price range.

I've historically been more of a Dell fan. Are the Lenovo machines decent? How's the build quality? I see they only come with a 1 year warranty, which is the only thing that concerns me a bit.

Cheers.

Good laptops. My Y580 is still going strong after upgrading to a SSD. The Y520s on Evetech has a 3 year warranty on it though?

Thanks! I just checked the Evetech website - I see they do offer a three year warranty, but all the other retailers that I've looked at only offer one year. Strange.

Just double check as the Lenovo laptops I was looking at state “2 year warranty with Lenovo” so it might be up to you to get it to Lenovo or a partner of Lenovo for warranty and repairs.

I've decided to go with the Y520.

On that note - can anyone recommend decent bags for 15.6" laptops? It doesn't have to be flashy, I just want something that offers decent protection. I've never used Rivacase before, but they seem decent enough based on reviews (https://www.takealot.com/rivacase-8231-15-6-laptop-bag-grey/PLID38438481).

However, I saw a complaint on Amazon that someone couldn't fit their 15.6" Lenovo into it. Any other thoughts on bags?
