Hi guys looking to put some RAM and maybe an SSD in. Need to speed this machine up.
Have done a fresh windows 10 install but it's still a bit slow.
Do you know what type is ok for this ?
Specifically the RAM?
I opened it up and the slots are empty which is weird because where is the RAM then?
Waiting for it to restart and will post specs on CPUZ

You could probably go with higher frequency ram though, it will just self adjust freq to match what's already running in there

If you are using Chrome then it is mostly slow because of ram. You will feel a big difference with SDD as suggested.

I don't know how mixing ram speeds with a soldered one to the board works. Doesn't it limit faster memory to match the soldered one?

Then faster memory is not worth it. Get the same spec as soldered but a single 4GB or 8Gb to leave the option to upgrade it if necessary with a 4/8gb later.

Depends, the lower 4gb could operate in dual channel mode if supported with the remaining 4g on the 8gb dimm operating in single channel mode.
Yes soldered ram sucks but it lowers production costs.

I would love to attempt a desolder and solder custom 2x8gb crucial kit or something.
