I bought a rolo and a bar one ice-cream, both got this hugh empty space on the side. I suppose it is a 2 liter container with 1,8 liter content. Wonder why they don't use a smaller container. MVIMG_20190920_184305.jpeg

Smaller container would mean they can't charge you premium prices for that extra plastic mold.

That ice cream still looks quite yummy. :-)

The space that would be between the icecream and the lid has moved to the side.

It looks like the cold-chain could have been broken. I'd be wary of eating ice-cream that has thawed and refrozen, unless you know that you took a bit long to get home and get it in the freezer, and even then I'd be cautious. Unless you don't mind a dose of food poisoning. We've had ice-cream that got a bit soft while we were serving it, and it's gone back in the freezer, and we have been absolutely fine after eating it on a later occasion.

I always check the tub before I buy it because the cold chain is so very often broken. Squeeze the sides of the tub and if they flex inwards instead of meeting the resistance of hard ice cream inside then there is a gap where there shouldn't be one.

What does the container state the volume to be..?
On the bottom of the container, small font, it state 1,5l.
It is interesting that there is a gap on the side and not on top. This is the second one that look like this inside.

Yep, like these guys have said, it looks like the ice cream has melted at some point.

actually happened there is that it melted and refroze

There are few things in this world that infuriate me more!

Dairymaid is renowned for letting it happen. You take your first bite of a king cone or whatever it may be and instead of encountering the soft texture of ice cream, your mouth is assaulted by jagged shards of frozen H2O.

On more than a few occasions I've wished I could make the person responsible wear that king cone as a clown hat.

A little off topic, but what is even worse is companies using vegetable fat instead of proper cream. Yes it's cheaper, but is no where near the quality of proper cream. It just doesn't taste the same and all too often it goes becomes crystallised.

Yes, and the fine print gets smaller of what is inside.
