When I ordered the ADSL line for a client, the client was not sure which ISP they want to use.

No problem says Telkom, just see that you have an account ready when the installation is done. You can add Prolog to the order anytime if you decide so.

Reality check: Client decides Prolog.

Phone Telkom: Sorry sir, as you did not order Prolog when you placed the order for the line, you can order when the line is installed and with 24 hours you will have your account details.

Ok - it is a daft arrangement, but I can live with it.

Line was installed today. I'm very happy with the techie. Neat and tidy job all running. Tested with his equipment and all worked.

Until I tried to place the order for Prolog with Telkom.

Sorry sir. If the line was installed today you can not have Prolog before Monday, because until then the installation does not exist on our systems.

So, I sit with a useless ADSL line at almost R30 per day because the Telkom systems can't do a simple thing such as placing an order for Prolog.

Had the same problem at the office. Just wait till you actually try and get the login details from them. It took repeated telephone calls over a period of hours. They claim to fax you the details but no fax ever arrived.

The Telkom techs converted an ISDN installation to DSL and had it running in 15 minutes. Then they had to wait for an hour for one of their own people to test the line.

I could go on...
 
This is exactly the reason I now double check any information I get from Telkom. It is simply unbelievable that everyone tells you something different. It makes you wonder whether anyone at Telkom actually knows what they are doing. This is a typical example of why a lot of us have no confidence in Telkom - and Mr White wonders why. <grumble>

i have ordered my second account with ATARIS.
i placed an order in the morning and got it activated @ 4 PM the same day!
 
Storm Internet did mine on the same day for both of my logins.


If at first you can't download, try and then try again...
