Good people ,

We were invited to a dinner party and I offered to take dessert.

Looking for a bakery / deli in northern suburbs of JHB that sells some yummy cakes/tarts.

Only one I can think of so far is Annica's.

Any other ideas ?

Considered making it yourself? Cupcakes are always a good gift, and you can make them look very pretty nowadays. Edible Glitter is awesome! Add a cupcake wrapper, put them in a box, and everyone is suitably impressed.
Otherwise maybe try fournos...

Also pick up a tray of baklava from the Doppio in Sunninghill (best in jo'burg - after my granny's of course )

There's also a great bakery along beyers naude about a block from northcliff corner ... can't remember the name right now but it's next veggie shop / flower market

Olivia’s at Beyers Naude Drive, Northcliff – this is a bakery with coffee shop – serves really good coffee and snacks. In line with a flower shop, a green grocer and a good butcher – a good one-stop spot. Great for meetings!

The Patisserie – The Post Office Centre (3 Rudd Road, Illovo) behind the Illovo Centre – really worth a visit 011 268 0044. Their Red Velvet cupcakes are decadent.

Zounés Cake Shop – Riverside Shopping Centre – their Vanilla cupcakes are incredibly moreish! 011 463 8971 or 011 463 8965

French Corner Bakery – 277 Main Road, Cramerview Village, Bryanston – opposite Sandton Clinic. Melt in the mouth french pastries. Open Monday to Sunday. 011 463 5808

J’s Café – Hobart Centre, cnr Hobart & Grosvenor Road in Bryanston – again – great croissants and you’ll be salivating as you watch their kitchen produce the most delicious treats. Who could resist? Call 011 706 2387
