Do you guys think that if all or at least half of all subscribers had to cancel our DSTV subscriptions, then DSTV would listen to us and our constant whining that its too expensive. I don't for a second think that their operating costs are so high that they have to charge +-R500 a month in order to stay afloat.

If a significant amount of people did it till a point that it started affecting their revenue, we could have a say in what would be an acceptable amount to pay per month.

If a nation can bring down a president who has an army behind him, surely we should be able to demand something simple like this as consumers?

what do you think?

Yes, lets all cancel..

I support you 100%... you cancel first and I'll reserve judgment until they no longer have all the sports rights.

Go ahead and cancel I dare you. Change starts with you, so why wait... Oh wait a minute you love to watch DSTV and what about your beloved sport.
Well I don't have DSTV and I still get to watch the sport and all the TV Series I want.

Odracir - and where might you be watching the Super 15 ?

i did cancel mine, thats why I'm asking everyone else. I'm not a big sports person or anything but thats not the point. I feel that the same service can be offered at a lesser cost and the quality still be maintained. Don't you think so? Its a matter of principle, don't rip off the consumers just because you have better content than the other broadasters.

At a sports bar, where I don't have to pay DSTV a cent to watch but rather the bar to drink a beer/coke/water/whatever with my meal.

You can always stream from Supersport.com if you must. Just ask a friend or family member for their card details (doesn't cost them anything extra). Even having it free I don't bother.

bio - ahhhhh, forgot about that....<FACEPALM>

Thanks for the tip, I will certainly make use of that.

I got my boxee today, so if it works out - I'll be cancelling soon too....

xrapidx - update your thread then!!!!

I am dying to find out what content (ie sport and movies) you can get your hands on.

Got it - haven't plugged it in :p waiting for home time :(

I think DSTV is great and even better in the comfort of my own home, so much better on your own big screen than some noisy Sports Bar and cheaper to pay DSTV than
visiting the Sports Bar a few times.
I WON'T cancel DSTV, you can cancel your DSTV and don't think you will save that money you will spend it on something. I also have TopTV as a filler and I can tell you, you get what you pay for. I love Fox Retro and some shows on TOP One and that's it. You get so much more for your money from DSTV.
I think the best channel available in RSA is Fox Retro and if I can't afford DSTV then I will cancel it and rather keep Fox Retro but as long as I can afford DSTV I will keep it.

I'm not going to try all kinds of thing to get some content to save a few rand. The last increase from DSTV is moderate. The monthly subs of DSTV is not the biggest problem. Electricity, petrol .............. food prices that's the problem. Two visits to your Local Pick and Pay for a few things is more than your DSTV sub.
