Ok those ppl that run windows vista and xp via dual booting, please try this for me.

After getting  of this happening to me i want to know if it happens to you.

Ok lets say you turn off your pc ok.
Now insert a flash drive or mp3 player thats not fats formated.
start up your pc....tell me if everything is fine..:(

Every time i forget i flash drive in the usb slot when i put my pc on,then all hell breaks loose,Vista tells me the is a drive that need to be converted to the proper table,i know when i see this i am fked.
Why..because from that moment i will see bsods after bsods ,Now the only way i fix rthis is by booting from vista dvd and fixing the errors.
System 32 folders in vista get corrupted or missing.

So i always make sure my flash drive or mp3 player is not in the usb port...

nop, never had any problems like that when I dual booted vista but either way I got rid of vista in the end :)

Yes, lol always check your disks monthly dude to be safe

It fixes a lot of issues, on PC's that cant even boot sometimes all that was needed was a checkdisk scan.

well i always check my flash drives for errors.i run defrags on my hdd's once a week
Let me try that, but remember i installed vista on a formated drive 5 months ago..
Will do that at 1am in the morning when i go do do lala dream dream.

I can't say for sure if it will work though, your disk should be ok since you installed Vista on a clean disk , but a scandisk is definitely worth doing.

Have a good rest then :)

Check out your flashdisk. I've had a similar problem that I fixed by deleting the partition on the flashdrive and formatting afterwards. Also, if you only use your drive in machines that have NTFS, why not format it to that? FAT32 tend to corrupt quicker than NTFS, in my experience.

Nope dont get that error. When I have a usb drive in my pc says it cant boot from drive. When I remove it my pc boots ok

I recommend you backup all data, then reformat all disks, install Vista and XP on a clean disk, if that does not work then my only guess is a hardware problem.

I think Vista also wants to convert the disk if the autoconfig.inf has weird stuff in it.

Or he could just stick to xp...

Could it be Vista wanting to format the USB drive for ReadyBoost use?
